Liberals Seem Desperate to Spin Against Allen West

Ahhh...the liberal spin machine...trying desperately to find something about which they can trash Congressman West.

Earlier in the week, West made the announcement that his July town hall meetings would be done by phone instead of in person.

FIRE UP THE SPIN MACHINE!!!

Congressman West has held 2 town hall meetings face to face with his south Florida constituents every month since taking office in January. His meeting are well attended and sometimes, a handful of detractors have offered their vocal foolishness. For his part, West has never been one to shy away from any question and certainly never intimidated.

Now, with budget talks and a fast approaching deadline on the deficit and debt ceiling issues Speaker Boehner has instructed House Members not to take leave and to be available for these most important votes. Knowing full well the stakes, Congressman West offered the following statement:

"this month, a decision by House Leadership to stay in session during the District Work Week to focus on debt ceiling negotiations, means the in- person town halls will not be possible."

With this in mind...what is West to do? He has basically 3 options.

1) Ignore the call by the Speaker to remain in D.C. for possible votes and head to Florida for his town halls.
2) Skip his town hall meetings for July all together.
3) Conduct hus July Town Hall meetings by phone while staying in D.C. for possible votes.

While clearly, West prefers  the personal touch in face to face meetings with constituents he has chosen option 3. West has made no bones about his distaste of telephone town halls in the past but, this time around, the situation demands a different approach.

HOWEVER...according to the liberal spin...and the Democratic Campaign Arm of Congress...

Representative Allen West (FL-22) always ridiculed the use of telephone town hall meetings to connect with voters in the Florida’s 22nd district when he was running for Congress. But now that his constituents are voicing outrage over his votes to end Medicare and protect tax breaks for oil companies making record profits, he has changed his tune and is now turning to the same telephone town hall formats he once described as “cowardice.” “Allen West had no problem calling people cowards as a candidate, but now that his constituents are holding his feet to the fire for voting to end Medicare and protect tax breaks for oil companies making record profits, he is running away,” said Adam Hodge of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “It makes you wonder if Candidate Allen West would call Congressman Allen West a chicken for holding a telephone town hall meeting.”

Really? THIS is the liberal plan to defeat Allen West? Good grief...


Back to Congressman West:


"While I would prefer to be in my district as I have done for the last six months and conduct my town halls in person ... I am glad there have been advances in technology, allowing me to reach my constituents from a distance,"

The liberal spin machine has tried ad tried get to West but like a hamster on a wheel, they're going nowhere fast. Remember the attempted flap over West's scuba dive with a flag? Trying to accuse him of being part of an all white biker gang? The recent attempt to call him anti Muslim?

Oh...NOTHING about his policies, but lots of silly little gnat biting personal attacks.

They even tried a GOTCHA against one of Congressman West's daughters by claiming she posted a swear word on her Facebook wall but...as it turned out...it was another young lady of the same name.

What these desperate attempts and anti West spin show is a very frightened liberal attitude. Congressman West scares them. He is no nonsense, plain talking, conservative to the core, a firm proponent of the Constitution, loaded with common sense, a 22 year Army veteran and impossible to intimidate.

Congressman West identifies with the people and We the People identify with Congressman West.

Expect these sort of spin machine tactics to continue but know...somewhere out there...Allen West is brushing them off like loose lint on a suit jacket.

Meanwhile, the liberals are spinning themselves dizzy.

West Tells it like it is and the Liberal Spin Machine Goes on the Attack

It's not often one has the opportunity to do a direct compare and contrast between the real story and the liberal spin when it comes to a statement by a conservative who exhibits the brass to tell it like it really is.

Today, Congressman West was reported on and spun at nearly the same time.

Here, from "The Hill" is the report by Molly K. Hooper

"The White House is "fear mongering" by warning that Social Security checks might not be sent out after Aug. 3, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) said Tuesday. 

"That's fear mongering that's not leadership, that's sad and pathetic," West told reporters. "There's revenue that's coming into this country the president needs to prioritize."

Obama in an interview with CBS said he couldn't guarantee Social Security checks would be sent out on Aug. 3 if Congress did not raise the debt ceiling by Aug. 2, when the Treasury Department has said it will no longer have the money to pay all of the U.S. bills."

"File this under "do as I say, not as I do." 

Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a Tea Party-backed freshman, complained to reporters on Tuesday that the White House is trying to scare Americans in the debt ceiling fight.

"I am sick and tired of leadership that's based on fearmongering and intimidation," he said. "That's not how I led my unit in the military and I don't think that's how you should lead a country."

Funny story, about West's military unit, though. The reason he no longer commands them is that he was forced out of the Army for beating a man in Iraq. After West grew suspicious that an Iraqi policeman was helping terrorists, he ordered his men to abuse the soldier before personally firing his pistol past his head to, well, fearmonger and intimidate the suspect into giving up information. The man was never linked to any attacks and West didn't just own up to his actions, he campaigned on them. "

What the liberal media and liberal thinkers WON'T tell you is that West did NOT intimidate HIS troops...but he DID intimidate the enemy!

Yes, West scared the hell out of the enemy, took the info he got from that episode, broke the back of those bent on killing American soldiers there and took full responsibility for his actions!

THIS is exactly what West and conservatives are up against heading into the 2012 election cycle but one thing IS certain...Allen West will NOT be intimidated.

For the liberal spin here to make ANY sense whatsoever, it would require that those whom Obama is attempting to intimidate and scare...be the ENEMY...and only then can a direct comparison between what Obama is attempting and what West did in Iraq be made.

Now...who exactly IS Obama trying to intimidate?

Conservatives? Old people? We the People? Yes on ALL counts.

Perhaps I have jumped to the wrong conclusion here as it seems clear that ALL of the above ARE, in Obama's and the liberals minds...the enemy and therefore, the spin may well have some validity.

None the less...West is clearly correct in HIS comments and the left spin...well...is unintentional in it's truth while completely lacking in substance.

Dear Congressman West, 

   As I currently live in the great state of Arizona, it is not my practice to write to elected officials  who do not represent me directly. I am not breaking protocol as you sir indeed DO represent me and I am not alone.

   Throughout this nation’s history, there have been many times when simple common sense dictated our most important elections. In those cases, the importance of t he outcome of the election was not of the utmost urgency. Those elected to        our nation’s highest office were needed to simply steer the ship of state through calm waters on clear days. 

   There have been, however, at certain points in our history when those elections took on dire meaning as the consequences of the results would forever change the course, not of history but of our future. Those were the times when the man elected to our highest office WAS indeed of the utmost importance. Washington, Lincoln, Truman and Reagan found themselves in that position.

   For our country and our republic, the world is a more dangerous place today than at any time in our history. Our enemies abroad are not wearing a uniform, they are cloaked in an ideology and they are not just our enemies, they are the enemies of our allies and human rights. You sir, know this better I believe, than anyone in elected office today. You know their history, their tactics, their ideology and their ultimate plan for the world’s future. 

   Our nation’s enemies abroad are not the only enemies we face. The very fabric of our republic and the foundation upon which our nation was built are under attack from within. While I believe many in office today understand this, you sir are the only one not so timid as to speak out against those who would fundamentally change our values, our republic our freedoms and the Constitution itself.

   The election in 2012 WILL determine the future of our nation and our place in the world. It WILL determine the freedoms of our allies and of people in countries who have been oppressed for generations. The election in 2012 IS the most important in our history. 

   While there are many who have expressed a desire to run for the office of president, and many who are qualified, the consequences of the outcome demand that we NOT look for the best we can find rather, the very best which exists.

   Congressman West, LTC West, you have led men. You must lead a nation.

   Sir, I am asking you to allow me and many, nationwide, to officially become your constituents. I am asking you to declare your candidacy for, accept the nomination of your party for, and become the President of The United States. 

   The time is now, for a leader who respects the Constitution and who knows that our government is Of The People, By The People and For The People. The time is now, for a leader who will stand with and FOR our allies and who will protect and foster those who fight for freedom abroad. The time is now, for a leader who can right the listing ship of state and set a course that will ensure the republic has a long and productive future. 

   The time is now for a leader who salutes our flag and the men and women who defend it, not just with his hand but with his heart.

   Our history has shown and our future demands that the right man, the very best which exists, be in the White House when most needed. 

LTC West, YOU are that man.
